Lucifer – Angel of Night Descending – Upwards After

leave a comment »

Against the death-waters of the sky,

Nailed to my sinful silhouette,

I feel surging upward,

in black cities vying,

Bright Lucifer,

in all his glory,

Sweeping the splinters

of the metallic stars

aside in slashing splashes

Like the lightning-lighted cities of God,

Out of his plasmatic firmament

each one extinguished

With his besom of destruction

Through my soul

into the utter inevitable

The fall leaving me,

cleaving in me,

Nothing –

but now contritely broken,

an empty earthen vessel,

Dear Lord,

which thy sweet

love-living, thrilling

alone can fill,

and keep filling.
