“We Three Kings Rap” for Children’s Program for El Dia de los Tres Reyes

Click on the song title to hear a sample rendition. At St. Paul’s in Coney Island in a previous version, all the children sang it as one of the teachers rapped the wooden floor of the pulpit to get the beat.
We Three Kings’ Rap

We Three Kings of Orient are
Casper, Melchior, and Balthazar.

We’ve been traveling by the light
Of a new star so shiny and bright.
To us is born a brand new king,
So here are the gifts we for him bring:
Perfume, frank-frankincense, and
Go-old
Go-old,
Perfume, frankincense, and gold.

Bethlehem is a town with a strange new light,
God’s own Son, He’s out of sight!
Here’s Mary, Joseph, ‘round the baby, too,
Shepherds, angels from out of the blue.
Around the Lamb, the animals stand,
And all the kids here from the land,
The donkey and oxen, as we been told,
Behold,
Behold,
By Isaiah of old.

We Three Kings of Orient are
Casper, Melchior, and Balthazar.

The drum-beat comes from one I sampled on YouTube: 123Synthland, by Roger Lynn, October 1, 2007: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5zzj-0Ry9k&feature=related

Composed 12/08/1994
